For eyes
- For the gorgeous night time look, use light, medium and dark eye shadow shades in graduated tones. Apply the dark shade along your lash line, the medium shade on the crease, and a light shade up to the eyebrow bone but not beyond. Soften and blend the edges with the colors melting into each other for the dramatic look. - For sexy and smoky effect, trace the upper and lower lashes with a dark shadow then smudge and bland using the brush. You can do this with the eyeliner on. - For a natural looking eyeliner and to give the illusion of lush, fuller lashes, use a dark brown eye pencil and carefully press a series of dots between your lash line. - To have dramatic look, apply one thin coat of mascara to both upper and lower lashes. You can apply a second coat after the first coat has completely dried. - To get the feeling of wide and open eyes, use a eyelash curler before applying mascara. Curl gently at the base of the lashes, but never beyond the centre of the lashes. - In the daytime, you can opt for more sophisticated look. For this apply light eye shadow over your entire eyelid from lash line to eyebrow bone, but not beyond it. Next define the crease of your eyelid using a medium or dark shade. It is better to avoid the darker shades as, darker the shade, more dramatic the look so a pastel shade will look softer. To open up your eyes so that they appear livelier, place a dot of a light shade in the inner corner of each eye.
For those lovely cheeks
- The most important thing is to use the blush correctly. Tap or lightly blow on the applicator brush to remove any excess blush before applying to prevent a harsh and uneven application. - Apply your blush on the apple of the cheek and carefully blend towards your natural hairline. - If you have two shades, apply the darker one on the apple of the cheek first, then use the lighter shade to highlight. Blend well so there is no visible line between colours. - Highlight your temples, forehead and chin. - To know where to glow, bend over 30 seconds, then slowly stand up. Where your cheeks are flushed is where you are meant to blush. Apply your blush there and it will be naturally rosy every time. - Always remember, cheek colours should be used to enhance your complexion, not to change your natural skin tone. Use sparingly for day time, but in the night, go for deeper shades. - On special occasions, use a lightly frosted powder over your cheek bones for a subtle but beautiful glow. - Always blend your blush into your foundation well otherwise it will look unnatural. For unnoticeable lines when applying blush, put a few drops of water on sponge and then apply the blush.
For that pout on your lips
- Use a lip liner to define and highlight the shape of your lips. Always start applying the lip liner from the centre of your natural upper lip line to define the bow then work toward the outer corners to complete the line. - Similarly start at one corner of your bottom lip then follow your natural lip line all the way to the other corner. - If you want to give a plumper and pinkish look to your lips then do not touch up by drawing a hard lip line. Instead smudge it so lips look fuller. - For a dramatic look, use a lipstick shade with a hint of frost. - Always make sure that you do not have lipstick on your teeth. To avoid that, put your index finger in your mouth and then draw it out slowly with your mouth closed. You will see all the extra lipstick on your finger what would have ended up on your teeth. - To have a creamy look, apply a lip balm to lips before applying the lipstick. - For the matte effect (suitable in sultry weather), apply lipstick then blot gently with tissue. - For the sheer effect, apply lip balm. Gently dot a small amount of neutral colour lipstick across lips, then smooth out. - To get a glossy look, after applying lipstick, apply a coat of clear or neutral color gloss over it, for a moist seductive effect. The glossy effect is suitable for the night time or in dry weather. - In general, always apply a lip balm or conditioner through out the day to keep lips hydrated and protected from the sun’s harmful rays.
Miscellaneous tips for the make up
- If you have run out of foundation for your make up, use loose powder or compact. If by any chance you are missing that too, mix a little concealer with a little amount of moisturiser and use it on your face. This will not only hide the blemishes but add an instant glow on your face. - If you don’t have a concealer, use the thick residue left around the rings of the mouth of your foundation bottle. Pat it lightly with your fingers and then spread it on the skin. - If you don’t have the mascara, dab a little petroleum jelly. It will define your lashes and make them shine when they catch light. - If you have run out of eyeliner, use the eye shadow. Use a damp brush (you can dampen it in water), and dip it in a darkish (blue, black, or brown) eye shadow and draw a neat line by dragging the brush along the upper eyelashes. - If you don’t have an eye - shadow, use a bronze or deep brown blush. Dust it along the crease of the eyes using a cotton swab. Do not use too much other wise your eyes will look artificial. - If you don’t have your lipstick, use blush. Cream or powder the blush on your lips and put a lip gloss or lip balm over it to give a natural look. - If there is no blush, you can use lipstick instead. However, use only a tiny bit as lipsticks have far more colour than blush. You can add a bit of moisturizer to blend it evenly. - if you run out of conditioner, then try using mayonnaise or even whole milk to condition your hair. Cover your hair starting at the scalp with mayonnaise or milk. Leave it on for 15 minutes and then rinse well. - Instead of foot cream, you can use petroleum jelly to massage and soften your feet. Cover your feet with socks after the application of petroleum jelly to retain and lock the moisture. - While buying a perfume for yourself, always spray the perfume on your inner side of the wrist from a long distance. After this spend some time wandering around the store for a few minutes. This will allow you to get to know as to how the fragrance comes out on your skin. The perfume always smells different after having been in contact with your body for a couple of minutes.
