Keep your books healthy! Remove dust frequently. You can use a vacuum cleaner with a brush or knife like nozzle attachment and this will help reduce the handling of your books. To give your books a thorough cleaning, wipe each book with a soft clean cloth and open the book to toss out the dust. Keep books dry . Silverfish love damp paper.

from crawling all over your books, keep your bookshelves clean. Clean them with a solution of borax and water. After, sprinkle a little borax on the back of the shelves to discourage others.

Have a damp room? Want to keep your books from smelling mildew? Try placing a small electriclamp on the bookcase and keep the light on at all times. (Low wattage will work) Also, you can put a drop or two on a piece of material and place the matierial between the pages. Be sure that the oil has dried first, or you will have an oil stain on a page or two. You may also put a couple drops on the inside of the dust jacket. Practice with an old book you don't care about till you get it right!

-     Always pre-plan about the books you need to buy, this will save your time and money.
-     Don’t get drawn towards famous name boards or publishing trademarks. Often they reduce the prices during the book fair but you may find the same book half the price in small bookshops.
-     Keep your eye on bargain bookshops. Bargain bookshops or Bargain corners are the best places to find rare and expensive books for an affordable price.
-     Don’t hesitate to take the help of experts or for that matter the bookshop owners. They provide you with very effective information about the books you seek. Often the bookshop owners are not just merchants but people with a wide knowledge of books, authors and literature in general.
-      Do not forget why you came to the fair. Remain focussed and browse through books which you came for.
-     Book fairs are excellent place to look for those rare books which you always wanted to buy for your collection, so make use of the opportunity and find those books patiently.
